During my pregnancy with my son, I gained close to 70 pounds. I didn’t even know that my body could carry that much weight but it’s amazing what your body can do when you’re carrying a baby. So after having Elijah, I lost a little weight slowly but I knew I would have to put in the work to get back to my pre-baby weight. So, I decided to adopt a healthy diet and started doing my at home workout videos (after 8 weeks, of course). I was just as determined to lose weight as I was to be a great mom. I was on it for a few months until I got down to where I wanted to be. The only problem was that my body was still not the same and the question became, how do I dress for this new body of mine. I wanted to still feel sexy and stylish in my clothes. But I also knew that I didn’t really want to wear some of the things that I wore before I become pregnant. So I decided that I needed to switch it up a bit. And during this process of discovering my new personal style, I started to find my sexy again. Here is how I did it.
Go Shopping for Some new Pieces. Make it an event! I think most women love a little shopping trip to the mall. And nothing is better than buying new clothes when you’ve been working out and eating healthy. Find a couple pieces that you can wear and feel sexy in right after your pregnancy and down the line when you’ve lost some baby weight. Like cute little camisoles, kimonos, and some accessories.
Get some new underwear. Sexy ones! You’re going to need new underwear anyway, so why not get some sexy pieces. And by underwear, I mean bras, panties, girdles, lingerie, and everything in between. Your undergarments can really make the different between sexy and frumpy. They’re the foundation for your entire look so make sure you get underwear that fit and make you feel sexy even with your clothes on.
Be in awe of yourself. Enjoy your new body. I can’t say this enough, I love my new curves. And as long as I’m making an attempt to live a healthy life and my body is working the way it should, I’m going to continue to appreciate it and love it. Believe me, the more you show your body some love, the more it will show you. Plus, your loved ones need to see this. We all need to see more body positivity.
Splurge on that one piece. You know that one piece that makes you look and feel amazing! It could be a cute dress, some BAD heels, a sexy pair of jeans, or even a piece of lingerie. I personally love the way I feel when I wear a sheath dress (like the one I’m wearing above) so I usually splurge on those.
Dress for your new body. And lastly, don’t get discouraged if your old clothes don’t fit the same. As a matter of fact, use this as an excuse to try some new styles and pieces. Get measured so that you can be sure of what your new sizes are too.

Most of my tips have to do to with the outer appearance. But truthfully speaking, your sexiness comes from within. I talk about sexiness and confidence a lot on my blog because I feel that it’s something that we as women struggle with most of our lives. And my hope is that the more we talk about it, the more aware we’ll become. And maybe we can find ways to love ourselves more and be less critical. Remember to love yourself and have an amazing Monday!

I was fortunate that I adopted and not had a baby the old fashion way. However, I give all my respect for all the mothers who did it the old fashion way. However, I did let myself go. I was wearing all the frumpy sweats and was all about comfort. I am just now, starting to think about myself. Just putting on so make up an putting a decent outfit can go a long way to making you feel better. For me, I had to also realize that I should dress (and love my body) how it is in the here and now.
But Daniesha, you should be proud of yourself for all the hard work to get your body to a place you can be comfortable with. As someone who has always struggled with weight, it’s pretty hard to lose weight. .So I applaud all of your effort!
As for your outfit, as always its outstanding. You just kill it every time. I love the dress, it’s sexy, but not too revealing for the office. And the color is fabulous on you. I really love that dark plum color on you.

Yes! We have to learn to love ourselves exactly how we are presently. I think when we become moms, we put all of our focus on our children and being the best mom possible. So it does make sense that we tend to let ourselves go. The important thing is that we always pick ourselves back up and get it together. And you’re right, a little extra effort on the outside has a huge affect on how we feel on the inside.
Gigi you are too kind! Thank you so much again!
