  1. Trench.  I think that every woman needs a classic trench coat; especially during the winter time.  The one that I have is pretty light because of our “not so winter” winters in GA but there are some great thick, heavy ones out there too.  A good black and khaki one will suffice.  And if you really want to go all out with it, try finding some in other colors!
  2. Over-the-Knee Boots.  OTK boots have been in for the past few years but as far as workwear is concerned, I’m just getting in on the trend.  Although I have seen over-the-knee boots being worn during every season, they are perfect for winter because they’re warm and stylish.  Be careful with these though, you don’t want to look like you’re channeling Pretty Woman.  I pair my OTK boots with black opaque tights and a knee-length sheath dress, sweater dress, and/or pencil skirt for that added edge.
  3. Handbag.  I’ve mentioned before the importance of a durable, roomy, yet stylish handbag for your workwear wardrobe.  It needs to be one that can carry all of your essentials including portfolios, tablets, makeup, snacks, wallets, jump drives, etc.  But, you still want it to match and look good with whatever you’re wearing. Black is always a good choice of course.  Or try a nice navy or tan option.  I love this one from Aldo!

What are some investment pieces that you think are great for winter wear?  Let me know in the comments below!

It’s rarely cold here in Miami but I definitely agree with each of these items. I won’t probably ever own a trench coat unless I move further north. I did just find a great pair of OTK boots at DSW which I might be able to wear this week. It’s been kinda cold here so I won’t look too crazy when I throw them on, lol.
